He was a Detective assigned to the Emergency Services Unit as a K9 handler and trainer. Pat handled several dual-purpose Patrol/cadaver dogs as NYPD ESU K9 is the remaining law enforcement agency to be a part of FEMA’s National response SAR Team. In addition to handling Patrol/cadaver dogs, Pat was also one of ESU K9’s trainers where he trained dual purpose dogs for NYPD service. Pat has responded across the United States to FEMA incidents searching for and recovering both live and deceased victims.
Pat has trained dual purpose dogs, explosives detection dogs, narcotic detection dogs, human remains detector dogs, law enforcement therapy dogs, tracking dogs and electronic storage device detection dogs.
Pat has a specialty due to his heartfelt concern for military veteran’s as Pat was a United States Marine before joining the NYPD. Pat has trained dogs for PTSD victims as well as service/assistance dogs serving those that need a specialized companion dog. Pat was also on the job with NYPD and present during the 9/11 incident at the Trade Towers in New York City.
Pat also specializes in the training and deployment of human remains and live find dogs due to his extensive FEMA background. Pat is a member of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Human Remains Detector Dog Task Force.
Orchard Knoll K9 is fortunate to have Pat as his extensive experience and enthusiasm for training police service dogs is contagious to those that we train!
