OUR TRAINERS
Orchard Knoll K9 has assembled a world class team of expert K-9 trainers. With over 150 years of combined experience, Orchard Knoll K9 provides trainers with experience in all aspects of training. Our trainers have been recognized in both State and Federal Courts as experts in K9 training and use. Additionally, they have been certified by independent and court recognized certifying bodies including the United States Police Canine Association, International Police Working Dog Association and FEMA. All have competed in regional certification trials and in national trials in both USPCA and IPWDA as well as other organizations. Ken has won the USPCA National Championship as TOP Cadaver Dog at the USPCA National Detector Dog Trials.
Additionally, our trainers have provided training to both law enforcement agencies and search and rescue groups across the Unite States. Ken has also provided k9 training to international military and law enforcement units around the globe.

Sergeant Mike McCoy
Currently an active duty Sergeant with the Harnett County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Department, Mike handles trains and supervises Harnett County Sheriff’s Departments K-9 Unit. Mikes K9 unit is comprised of both bloodhound trailing dogs, Labrador Retriever single purpose bomb dogs and dual purpose Malinois, Dutch Sheperd and German Shepherd dogs. Mikes team has human remains detector capability, trailing, tracking, narcotics detection, explosives detection, gun detection and criminal apprehension. Mike has been a K9 handler for the majority of his 20-year law enforcement career. In addition to being a handler, Mike is an IPWDA Certified Trainer and has trained dual purpose dogs, explosives detection dogs, narcotics detection dogs, tracking dogs, trailing dogs, human remains detector dogs, and gun detector dogs for many surrounding law enforcement agencies. Mike’s passion and specialty is in the training and use of Bloodhounds. Because of this passion, Mikes dogs have been successful in locating both missing persons and capturing violent suspects. Mike also specializes in the detection of human remains in water.
Mike supervises and manages Harnett County Sheriff’s Departments K9 Unit giving him relevant and current experience in the organization and management of a large and diverse K9 Unit.
Mike brings expertise to Orchard Knoll K9 in specialized areas of training and preparation of Police Bloodhounds and human remains detector dogs. Orchard Knoll K9 is proud to have Mike on its training team!
